A free IGDMBot alternative that also finds who to message
CollabScout does the messaging jobs people use IGDMBot for, welcoming new followers, answering likes, messaging a list or a CSV in varied wording, for free, in a Chrome extension that also finds the people worth messaging. IGDMBot's free version sends 10 messages a day, and its Pro plan costs $12.95 a month.

What CollabScout adds: knowing who to message
Sending is the easy part. The list is the hard part. With IGDMBot you bring it: the followers of some account, the people who liked a post, or a CSV from somewhere else. The followers of a big account are a mixed bag, and most of them will never care about your offer.
CollabScout starts one step earlier. Pick a category (there are 43 ready-made ones, from food and fitness to local trades and everyday people) and give it a few example accounts. It reads who Instagram suggests next to them, checks each profile against your category, and shows you the words that made it a match. You say yes or no, and your yeses become the list. The first matches usually show up within minutes, then a few dozen more a day.
Already have a list? Upload the CSV or paste the usernames and go straight to writing the message.
Safer sending, built in
Every DM tool gives the same safety advice: keep daily numbers modest, space messages out, vary the wording. IGDMBot's site gives it as advice. CollabScout builds it in:
- Messages go one at a time, every 4 to 12 minutes at random.
- 20 a day to start; the higher limit opens only after three days without warnings from Instagram.
- If Instagram pushes back, with a rate limit or a login check, sending pauses on its own.
- Every recipient's exact message is shown before anything is sent, and a practice run goes through everything without sending at all. That's also what Chrome Web Store policy asks of any extension that sends messages: the user must be able to confirm the content and the recipients.
- The account that sends is always shown by name and photo, so nothing goes out from the wrong one.
Where IGDMBot is ahead
- Volume. Pro has no daily cap. If you really need hundreds of messages a day, CollabScout won't do it, on purpose.
- Exporting history. IGDMBot lists DM history export as a feature. CollabScout keeps the history in the app.
The cost over a year
IGDMBot Pro at $12.95 a month comes to about $155 a year (my arithmetic), with a full refund if you ask within 7 days. CollabScout costs nothing, and there's no account to create.
Questions
Is there a free IGDMBot alternative?
Yes. CollabScout is a free Chrome extension that does the same messaging jobs (welcoming new followers, answering likes, messaging lists and CSVs in varied wording) and also finds who to message. It sends up to 20 messages a day by default, and up to 40 once the account has had three days without warnings.
Can I bring a list from another tool?
Yes. Any CSV with a username or profile-link column works, whichever tool it came from. CollabScout picks up that column on its own, and the other columns can go into your message.
Is it safe to send Instagram DMs with an extension?
No extension can make it risk-free. Instagram limits accounts that send many similar messages quickly. Go slowly, write messages people will want to get, and keep the daily number modest; CollabScout's defaults are built around exactly that.
